WILMINGTON– A 54-year-old truck driver from Missouri was killed Friday night when the load he was taking off his trailer fell on him in south suburban Wilmington.

Michael D. Shaw, of Rutledge, Mo., was unstrapping the load on his trailer at U.S. Cold Storage, 800 E. Kankakee River Rd. in Wilmington, when the load fell on him, according to the Will County Coroner.

Shaw was pronounced dead at 7:40 p.m. on the scene. The U.S. Occupational Health and Safety Administration is investigating the incident, as is the Wilmington Police Department. An autopsy is scheduled.
