A semi tractor trailer rig has spilled its load of hamburger patties on Interstate 15, bringing the morning commute to a halt in the northbound lanes just north of Salt Lake City.
Southbound lane travel also are reduced to a crawl with traffic backed up from the crash area south for miles to the Beck Street and the 600 North area.
The Utah Highway Patrol is advising motorists to avoid the area, taking the Legacy Highway or I-215 instead, if possible.
The accident occurred about 5:30 a.m., scattering debris and burger over a wide area. Authorities say it will take hours to clear the mess.
