Two women and a baby died Wednesday afternoon when the SUV they were in collided with a tractor-trailer on U.S. Highway 60 southwest of Pampa.

The wreck happened about noon a mile from the Celanese plant.

The Department of Public Safety said the driver of the Chevy Suburban, Talina Welch, 30, of Amarillo, and passengers Kayla Dorsey, 18, of Amarillo, and Akhyla Williams, a 2-month old infant from Pampa, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Helicopters transported two other children, Hirshal Green, 5, of Amarillo, and David Daniels, 2, of Amarillo, to Northwest Texas Hospital, according to DPS. Both were reported in stable condition Wednesday evening.

DPS Trooper Gabriel Medrano said Welch was driving the Suburban westbound on U.S. Highway 60 when “she had a distraction in the vehicle.”
