On Thursday March 5, 2009, Jason Rivenburg pulled his truck into a gas station that has been used frequently and considered to be some what safe. Jason was only twelve miles from his destination but could not make delivery because it was too early. His delivery never took place. Jason was shot and killed as he rested in his truck. Jason was not the first driver to have lost his/her life this way.
Not long after this tragedy happened, Jason’s family started getting thing’s together in order to try and get a new law in place, to give truck drivers a SAFE place to park!
We are asking for EVERYONE from Truck drivers to their family and friends, to get on board and help us get our Senators and Representatives Attention on this and to get H.R. 2156 or (Jason’s Law) that is has been nicked named signed into law.
What is Jason’s Law? You, might ask? It is a potential law
to address the ongoing and escalating problems with truck driver safety and security. In the last month we have been doing a great deal of research into the problems of Trucker Safety. You can read the rest here please take a few minutes to read it, and if you feel like this is something that needs to be put into law, PLEASE help us by telling everyone you see, also PLEASE take 5 minutes to call your SENATOR and REPRESENTATIVE explaining to them the importance of this bill and that you want them to support it also. If you do not know how to contact your Senator or Representative, then you can go to CONTACT YOUR ELECTED OFFICIAL.
With the recent victory in Virginia, I know a lot of you are people who thinks your calls do not matter, but guess what? They do matter, one 5 minute call from THOUSANDS of people can make a BIG difference.
