Money for Trucking

Well, it looks like Trucking missed the boat again. But, I guess mass transit upgrades are all “supposed” to help with the congestion problems that truckers have to deal with. I just hate to see truck drivers and companies have to pay for it, and get screwed all at the same time.
Today it was announced by the Department of Transportation that they were giving away another $775 million dollars to upgrade the nation’s bus systems. In an announcement Sunday, Federal Transit Administrator Peter Rogoff said:”The Obama Administration is making these funds available to ensure that financially strapped transit providers can keep buses rolling and serving the public during these difficult economic times.”
Financially strapped transit providers? Why are they strapped for money? If the economy is in as bad a shape as we know it is, then you would think mass transit would be over-flowing with money because people would be riding instead of driving to save money.
“The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) is addressing the challenge of bringing our nation’s transit systems into a state of good repair head-on,” said Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood. “These funds will get us started, but we still have a long way to go.” I’m sure you do Ray, especially while this administration thinks money just grows on trees.
I seem to remember just a few weeks ago, Ray LaHood announced a bunch of money for mass transit, now they get this too? Where is the money for trucking?

These Transit providers wouldn’t be strapped if they didn’t have such IDIOTS running
them. As you said you would think they would be rolling in money, since they say everyone is trying to save.
